DIENTES LARGOS PARA MAÑANA

Ry Cooder (guitars) and Nick Lowe (guitars and bass) - with Joachim Cooder (drums)played live at Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels on June 22, 2009.

This was one of the few opportunities to attend a concert, in Europe, with one of the most
accomplished slide guitarists in recent history.

The set covered territory from Mr. Cooder’s first album and on, with a few Nick Lowe songs in addition. These were some of the songs included, Fool Who Knows, Fool For A Cigarette/Feelin’ Good, Vigilante Man, One Meat Ball, The Very Things That Makes Her Rich (Makes You Poor), (What’s So Funny) ‘Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?, Little Sister, Every Woman I Know Is Crazy ‘Bout An Automobile, He’ll Have To Go, How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times And Live?, Down In Hollywood, Half A Boy and Half A Man, as well as Jesus On The Mainline.

The concert lasted around two hours. The slide work, mostly on Stratocasters, with the exception of Vigilante Man, played on a resonator guitar, was both lyrical and extremely well played.

Those who have the opportunity to see this band live in France, Spain and the United Kingdom do – indeed - have something to look forward to.
